You solved the hunt!

Thank you so much for playing Timehop’s Puzzle Hunt 2022! 

We had a HUGE turnout. Over 70,000 Timehoppers tried the hunt, but only 1,046 of you finished with the correct solution. Bravo to the 3.5% of you super sleuths! (Extra claps to the fastest completion at only 14 minutes and 53 seconds after launch. Wow!)

Thanks again for playing, we hope you had as much fun trying to solve the hunt as did creating it for you. And don’t worry, there will be plenty of more chances to win an Abe plushie, so keep a look out.

The Solutions

1. This clue references the daily news item in Timehop

2. There are a few letters in the news caption that are random colors

3. Put the letters in the spaces on the screen above the wires, according to the matching color: OSHER

4. There is a pattern on the screen showing a maze from each wire’s space to a new space at the top

5. Trace each path on the maze to re-order the letters into the solution

6. Solution: HORSE

1. That hashtag is simply a url: timehop.com/wordle

2. This plays as a normal wordle game, that you get to keep replaying

3. Solution: KAYAK

1. There were 5 stories posted to the Timehop Instagram account which serve as your clues

2. Each story involves an ordering word (i.e. first, second, last), a highlighted word, and a number

3. Put the stories in order by the ordering word

4. Then take the letter of each highlighted word that corresponds to the number

5. First 1 COFFEE
   Second 7 DUMBBELLS
   Third 5 AIR HOCKEY
   Fourth 6 QUICK WASH
   LASTLY 10 TARTE TATIN

6. Solution: CLOWN

1. The Timehop Twitter account posted an image of a maze from a newspaper

2. Completing the maze took you through multiple arrows, give you a sequence of directions: R R U L U L L L

3. There is also an ad under the maze to check out the Timehop Facebook page for part 2

4. The Timehop Facebook account posted a grid of objects with the same red start starting point as the maze

5. Starting at the red star, move in the sequence of directions from the maze to land on another circle with a heart in it

6. Solution: HEART

1. Intercut in RetroVideo was a screen of animal emojis and letters, with a caption referencing clues in audio

2. Turning on audio revealed a voice saying the following list: Pig, Quack, Crab, Meow, Sheep, Oink, Turkey, Moo, Crab, Roar

3. The cipher also says “Only Sounds,” so remove the items from the list that aren’t sounds the animal makes

4. Using the on-screen cipher, you can decode the animal-noises into the solution

5. Solution: PEARL
